In the Art & Fashion class, students were tasked with an intriguing challenge: to step into the role of an art director and develop a project that would showcase their creative prowess. Marcela took on this challenge with gusto, conceptualizing The Last Mag, a groundbreaking digital magazine and collective designed to redefine traditional print media in the digital era.The Last Mag was a multifaceted endeavor, featuring a dynamic website, engaging social media presence, and a visually striking magazine. Marcela meticulously crafted every aspect of the project's design, from layout and typography to the selection of compelling visual elements. The result was a publication that exuded a fashion-forward aesthetic, setting it apart in the digital landscape.




But Marcela's vision didn't stop there. Recognizing the potential for expansion, she envisioned The Last Mag transcending traditional boundaries to explore new mediums such as pop-up invitations and NFTs. This strategic expansion not only broadened the collective's reach but also showcased the adaptability of its visual identity.

By delving into diverse forms of media, Marcela gained invaluable insights into how The Last Mag's concept and visual identity could thrive across various platforms. This exploration underscored her versatility as an art director, demonstrating her ability to seamlessly adapt and innovate while staying true to the collective's distinct identity.

Marcela Bacelo, a Brazilian designer and recipient of the prestigious Sillas Rhode Scholarship at SVA NY, began her career with Brazilian agencies like plenty and sesh, gaining valuable product management experience. Upon her move to New York, Marcela excelled at Roc Nation as a Design and Artist Marketing Resident, contributing to merchandise and strategic marketing for artists such as Alicia Keys and Megan Thee Stallion.  Simultaneously, she served as Editor-in-Chief at Visual Opinion, overseeing the production of over 10 magazines at SVA. Graduating with honors, Marcela joined Paper Planes, an affiliated Roc Nation clothing brand, showcasing her expertise in various fashion roles, including design, tech packs, campaign ideation, and production oversight. Recognized for her unique fashion sense, Marcela has been featured in magazines like Costume Denmark and HypeBae. With a versatile skill set encompassing graphic design, UX/UI, set direction, branding, and fashion design, Marcela is a dynamic designer ready to make a lasting impact.
